The Chief Constable draws thè attention of a11 ranks to General Order
No. 10 of 1939 with referenceto the above.
This subjectwas again discussedat the No. 1 District D,etect e
Con£erenceheld at Manchester on the 7th November, 1945, when it was decided
that it would be of assistanceto á11 Police Forces if, when the circulation
of persons wanted or motor vehicles stolen is being cancelled,the date and
place o£ arrest, or the date aud place of the recovery of the motor vehicle
is includedin the eancellationmessage.
The Chief Constable directs that when a circulationhas been made on
Dai1y Informations,teleyhone or wireless, the date and place of arrest
of the person wanted, or the date and place of the recovery of the motor
vehicle is included in the cancellationmessage.
It is importantwhen thieves are operating in the County,using mator
v.ehicleswhich are taken in the County or adjoini gCounties,that evary step
should be taken when a motor car is found abandoned in the County, to
ascertainwhether it has been used in the commissionof a crime, and t.herefore
it is necessary that whenever possible the motor car should be examined for
finger prints and proparly searchedfor articleswhich may have been left
in the car and which may probably connect the aar with a crime, before it
is handed over to the o er.
