Force Orders 1937_05 X No. 5. 1st March,1937. CIRCULATEDTO ALL R9NRSOF THE CHEs- HIRE CONSTABULIRY. INQ'JESTS--MEDICALREFORTS'. The Chief Constabledirects that Constables, when actingas Coroner 's Officer,wi11 not request the Medical practitionerto give a writtenreport without first receiving the instructionsfrom the Coroner that such report is necessary. It will, of course, b® inorder for a Constable in every case to receive verbal particularsof a death from a medical practitionerinthe ordinaryway, but the doctor should be informed that he is not to furnish à written report until the Coroner express- 1y authoriseahin to do so. This procedure wi11 ot precludemedical officers of infirmaries,mental hospitals and public institutionstrom furnishing reports from the records of the cavewithout payment as they have done inthe past. Whenevera reportis oalled for y the Coroner,the medicalpractitionershould be informed that it must contain a fu11 clinical history of the last illness and a certificatethat the body has been seen aftar death by the doctor furnishingthe report and that there are no marks of violenceor signs of injury or evidenceof poisoning. . -x.
