X Murder of Mary Bailey (Bayley)Dear Valerie,Thank you for your enquiry concerning the aboveMurder, sadly the Museum only holds a number ofMurder files these date from the early 1900's.I have checked to see if there is anythingrecorded within the three publications that wehold on Cheshire Murders which are "Cheshire Talesof Mystery and Murder" "Cheshire Murders" and"Cheshire Executions" and again nothing. However, I have attached two items one from theTimes Newspaper dated 11th December 1863 and theTrue Crime Library. I feel certain that theremust be something with the Public Record Office atChester or the National Archives London which maybecause of the execution hold the file.I see from your name that you are connected to theHewitt family the Museum would appreciate verymuch any further information you have on thecrime, we could then hold this on file and shouldwe have any further request we could if you sowish direct the enquirer to your good self. Can I ask you to drop me a quick mail to say youhave received this information and this way I canmark off your enquiry. If you have any furtherquestions please don't hesitate to contact me. JimTalbot. Trustee and Researcher, Cheshire Museum ofPolicing.
