Ishould make you aware that whilst this Museum istotally reliant on donations, the Cheshire RecordOffice will charge you a minimum search fee of £27for searching the Pension Register).Awards/Good Conduct/Other information. 01/1880Service, 1 Good Conduct Badge. 03/1880 1 GoodConduct Badges. 12/08/1882 General Activity andefficiency in performance of his duties, Promotedto 31/6d pw.Please note that in the Police Enrolment Recordshe is shown as CRABBE, in the Marriage Records asCRABB. 1881 and 1891 and 1901 Census as CRABB ( Ihave attached the Census returns)Sgt Crabb(e)appears to have served most of histime in the Tarvin area as he appears on the 1881Census in Chester Road, Tarvin. The 1891 and 1901Census in Kelsall Road, Tarvin. There appears tohave been about 9 children to this marriage.whether or not there were any children to hisfirst marriage, as he is shown as a Widower, I donot know. I do not have any information regardingthe first marriage which must have taken placewhilst he was serving in the Royal Marines. However, I note that a Mabel Wallace Crabb(withoutthe e) died in the Sub District of Northwich in1876, whether she is Albert's first wife I do notknow, but she is the only Crabb to die inNorthwich Sub District between 1855 and 1878. Itis interesting to note that in the Cheshire PoliceOfficers Marriage records (see below) it showsthat Rebecca his second wife is recorded as aSpinster, yet the 1881 Census shows there is aWilliam Jones aged 5 years, born 1876 in Salop,step-son of Albert. This would indicate thatRebecca was either not a spinster which isunlikely, or that William was born to someone elseout of wedlock.Other References.
