X Subject: RE: Pulteney Malcolm.Dear Jim,I can't help you very much, but the historian ofthe family is John Malcolm in Australia and I willcopy this to him in case he can fill in some moregaps. He seems to have been my 2nd cousin 3 timesremoved so he is somewhat remote! I have a notethat he had a son, also called Pulteney, born in1894 and who was killed in action in August 1918and I had a note about another son called George, but removed him from the tree as the dates wereimpossible to reconcile. On my tree, you probably saw him as Major DSO(1902) and his date of birth as 16 August 1861 andI have now brought him up to date although not onthe web yet. His Father was General Sir GeorgeMalcolm GCB (1818 to 1897) who served in Bombayand died at Leamington; he married a WilhelminaHughes. General Malcolm had Pulteney, another boyand 2 girls. His grandfather was George Malcolm ofBurnfoot, who over a period of 20 years from 1762to 1782 fathered 17 children, 4 of whom wereknighted and were known as the Knights of Eskdale.General George's father was No 12, Rev GilbertMalcolm (1774 - 1855) who married a Helen Little(1775-1863).Apart from the Admiral Sir Pulteney (memorial inSt Paul's) I have 6 other Pulteneys on my list, although those on Gilbert's line look a bit likehero worship. I hope this helps sort our hisancestry. He seems to have had the family looks aswell! If I can help any more, please let me know. IfJohn has many more information I expect he willalso get in touch.Yours,Malcolm Davidson
