X PatronGerald Cavendish GrosvenorDuke of Westminster, KG, CB, OBE, TD, DLOur ref: JT62/2012Arthur CUMBERBATCHDear Bob ,Thank you for your nicely worded request forinformation concerning Arthur you may be surprisedhow many enquires we get from people who never sayplease or thank you, but first I have to point outa few things. Sadly we do not have a photograph, but if you have and you would like to share it ascanned copy would be wonderful and a copy of anydocuments that you are preparing we would bedelighted to receive. It has long been a task of this Museum to compilea list of all Cheshire Constabulary officers thatgave their lives during both World Wars, to thisend several of the officers have proved difficultto trace purley because at the time they joinedthe police force they served only a short amountof time and then enlisted in the forces, Arthur isone such officer. Irrespective of what we hold onArthur at the Museum, Arthur has never beenforgotten by the Cheshire Constabulary, each yearin November during the Force Remeberance Paradeheld at Winsford Police HQ his and all otherofficers names are read out. There is also in theFoyer of HQ a very large wooden Memorial Plaquethat contains the names of all officers, I haveattached a copy of what it looks like, but Iassure you it looks much better than thatdepicted.Collar Number/Rank.
