X Alfred Charles CLEAVER. K.P.M.(Gallantry)Dear RogerThank you for your for your enquiry concerningInspector Cleaver, we have a few problems herewith your request. The Museum is currently havingbuilding work carried out to allow a new publicand disabled access, this has meant that it isclosed to the public and those artefacts removedfrom the area in which the alterations are takingplace this includes Alfred's Medal Display. Evenif we could get at Alfred's display, the frame inwhich his medals and original photograph aredisplayed is a 'sealed frame' for preservationpurposes and would cost a considerable amount ofmoney to undo and check the medal, then replacethe 'seals' on the frame, which I am sure you willunderstand costs like this cannot be incurredunless absolutely necessary. However, I can offer you the following(a) A photograph of the Medal Presentation Frame72dpi.(b) A head and shoulder photograph as on the website but this is only 150dpi.(c) The Medal Display 'Write Up' that is withinthe Medal Presentation Frame which containspersonal information, and with regard to theincident in which the medals were awarded.(d) A copy of the Citation for the Kings PoliceMedal for Gallantry.(e) Newspaper Cutting. If these are acceptable, the only thing we ask ofyou is acknowledgement in your book to the Museumof Policing in Cheshire and of course then youhave the Museums permission to use them. Please come back to me when you have a moment andI will gladly forward the above.Best wishesJim Talbot.Trustee and ResearcherMuseum of Policing in Cheshire.
