X Benjamin JOHNSON. James JOHNSON. HerbertWOOLLACOTTDear Christine,Thank you for your enquiry concerning the abovename, unfortunately we have very littleinformation on the three officers, and this isbecause they were Warrington Borough PoliceOfficers and not Cheshire at the time of theirenlistment. To try and explain CheshireConstabulary was formed in 1857, and covered theentire County of Cheshire for policing purposes. However, also at the same time there were a numberof other Police Forces in the County and thesewere know as Borough Police Forces, Warrington wasno exception, Warrington Borough Police was anindependent force from the time of it's inceptionin 1838 until 1974 and only then did it becomepart of the Cheshire Constabulary. The WarringtonPolice Officer records vary in the amount ofinformation entered and in some cases only thejoining date is recorded.
