X Thomas and Ernest JEFFS.Dear Eric (if I may be so bold)Thank you for your enquiry concerning the aboveofficers. The following information is held in theMuseum Archives, I trust you will enjoy readingit. Could I ask if you a photograph of either canwe have a copy? If you also read the history ofthe Cheshire Constabulary "To the Best of OurSkill and Knowledge" which is on the Museum WebSite, I feel certain that a useful picture can beobtained of life in the force at the time. Withregard to visiting the Museum I am responsible forthe research and ask that you arrange your visitto the Museum through the Curator Peter Wroe, ifyou contact him directly onyou, however he is out of the UK until the 20thMay, so please contact him after this date andtell him you have received the research from me,but you would now like to visit the Museum. TheMuseum is currently being re-vamped but hopefullywill have been completed by the 18th June. Withregard to viewing the actual records, all recordsare held under CJP7 Volumes 1-5 at the ChesterRecord Office, these Volumes are very large andare in a very poor condition and do not handlevery well, to this end over the past year I haveextracted everything that is contained within themfor every officer, in fact I am just startingVolume 5 in which Ernest's details are contained. Also CJP20/2/1 the officers Pension details havebeen added for Ernest, this Volume is nonalphabetical and contains over a thousand officersdetails, it took me over 1 hour just to find him,of course eventually it will all be in thedatabase and will cause no issues in the future,so if I can reassure you Eric that everything Igive you is exactly what is recorded in therespective Volumes. Finally would you be so kindand acknowledge receipt of this information.Sincere best wishes, Jim Talbot Trustee andResearcher Museum of Policing in Cheshire.Collar Number/Rank. Police Constable 61.
