These are the forces which at one time served the Cheshire area. They are now part of the Cheshire Constabulary, Merseyside Police and Greater Manchester Police.

Stalybridge 1857 1947 became part of the Cheshire Constabulary,  1974 became Manchester
Stockport 1870 1967 became part of the Cheshire Constabulary,  1974 became Manchester
Wallasey 1913 1967 became part of the Cheshire Constabulary, 1974 became Merseyside
Warrington 1847 1969 became Lancashire, 1974 became part of Cheshire Constabulary History
Widnes 1858 became Lancashire, 1974 became part of Cheshire Constabulary
Wirral    1974 became Merseyside
